Journalism

The key statement from my PGDip Journalism application I remember today is that I want to help give people a voice. All these years later, I still believe that’s what journalism is.

Whether it’s talking to London’s homeless population for the BBC or interviewing a domina in Berlin for Exberliner, everybody has their story to tell.

During my tenure as a staff reporter, I’ve been on the campaign trail of Sadiq Khan and Ed Miliband, investigated the ambulance boss who took an NHS vehicle on a French booze cruise and found out why Dundee failed to win City of Culture (it was too cultured!).

From an exclusive police briefing on a ‘high value, daring and audacious’ jewellery theft, to meeting hero grandparents who rescued an abandoned baby and a heartbreaking interview with the pregnant girlfriend of a fatally stabbed man – no two days were the same.

Latterly, I’ve also produced and hosted a podcast series for a Berlin start-up and, as a member of the Lost Shoe Collective (2017-2023), co-produced EU-funded documentary Artist Run interviewing all the artists who appear in the film.
